2 motorcycle cops injured in crash during procession on I-95 near Penn's Landing

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Two motorcycle cops were injured in a crash on I-95 in Philadelphia during a procession for charity on Thursday morning.

Chopper 6 was over the motorcade when the crash happened just before 8 a.m. on I-95 southbound, between Washington Avenue and Christian Street, near Penn's Landing.

A motorcycle cop crashed Thursday during a motorcade procession for Camp Out for Hunger.

One officer on a motorcycle swerved to avoid a broken-down van in the left lane of I-95 South.

As that officer spun out, another swerved to avoid hitting him. Both officers - one from Upper Dublin, another from Abington - suffered minor injuries.

The crash caused a temporary backup along the highway between Christian Street and Washington Avenue.

The motorcade of police officers was on its way to the WMMR Preston and Steve Camp Out for Hunger event at the Sports Complex.

After the injured officers were attended to, the procession finished its journey to the event.
