Leaders in Montgomery, Bucks, Chester, and Delaware counties filed a joint brief on Monday.
The legal filing mentions the counties' proximity and shared history with the city of Philadelphia, and adds the importance of maintaining honest and inclusive representation of history at nationally significant sites.
The city recently filed a lawsuit to restore the exhibits.
The National Park Service removed them in January, on orders from the Trump administration.
