PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania (WPVI) -- For this employee at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, one night of watching television changed the life of another person in need.
Inspired by an episode of "Grey's Anatomy," she became a living organ donor through Penn Medicine.
"Just thinking about...what can you do for the people around you...At the end of the day, we're all human beings...why would I not help somebody in this way and...give somebody a chance at a better life or a better quality of life if I can," said Hannah Callahan, Project Manager at PCOM.
Callahan donated her kidney through Penn Medicine's Center for Living Donation.
"You can register to be considered as a donor. And through there it's really just the start of a conversation. It's not a binding commitment. It's really just about learning more about living organ donation and potentially helping another person through that," said Lauren Lasker of Penn Medicine's Center for Living Donation.
"Living kidney donors are everyday heroes. They're coming forward with this beautiful intention in their heart to help another person in need. That in itself is inspiring to witness every day," said Lasker.
