PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Local mascots joined Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro in announcing that the commonwealth's new license plate is now available for order.
Officials say the new "'Let Freedom Ring" design celebrates Pennsylvania as the birthplace of American democracy, as the commonwealth prepares for the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
The governor posted a video on social media teasing the news, with the caption, "No matter who you root for, we think you'll like the news we're dropping."
The Phillie Phanatic, Gritty, Franklin, Swoop and Phang were all part of the video, as well as the Pittsburgh team mascots.
Officials said nearly 11,700 new-plate orders have already been filled for people who signed up for updates last year.
