Braden Shattuck's young caddy steps into the PGA spotlight

NEWTOWN SQUARE, Pa. (WPVI) -- Delaware County golfer Braden Shattuck is gearing up for the PGA Championship this weekend, and he's bringing a uniquely local story with him.

Walking beside him will be his caddie, Beau Riviere, who just turned 18 and is officially the youngest caddie in the entire 156-person field.

Riviere grew up in the heart of Philadelphia. He's a strong golfer in his own right, but for the past year, he's been caddying for Shattuck at Rolling Green Golf Club.

Their partnership has been steady, quiet, and effective - the kind of chemistry that doesn't need much talking to work.

When Shattuck qualified for the PGA Championship last week, Riviere knew exactly what it meant: He was going with him.

When asked about his approach, Riviere keeps it simple.

"I just try to do my job. I keep quiet unless he asks my opinion. He's a great golfer. I just hold the bag and help where I can," he said.

Shattuck says that's exactly why the partnership works.

"This is going to sound funny, but the thing I love about him is that he only speaks if I speak to him. And I'm the same way when I golf. So we're a perfect fit. But when I call his name, he's prepared and ready and has all the information I need."

Their dynamic is built on trust, preparation, and a shared calm - a valuable combination on one of golf's biggest stages.

Despite the magnitude of the moment, Riviere hasn't told any of his high school classmates. He wanted to keep the week quiet and focused.

Now that he's appeared on Action News, that low-key plan may be out the window. We'll see who shows up to cheer him on.
