Philadelphia City Council introduces plan to create office to address food insecurity

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Philadelphia's Council President introduced a plan Tuesday to create a permanent office to address food equity and insecurity.

Kenyatta Johnson laid out the findings of a specially created task force detailing the scale of the hunger crisis in Philadelphia.

More than 200,000 Philadelphia residents face food insecurity every day.

The proposed office will lay out policy goals aimed at improving access to fresh food, and benefits for those who need them.
