Philadelphia mayor launches new effort to transform Market East

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker launched a new effort to transform Market East in Center City.

The mayor wants to turn the space into a commercial and entertainment destination.

On Friday, she announced the "Reimagining Market East Initiative." The effort includes an advisory group made up of business, community and government leaders.

The group will work on a plan to redevelop Market East for the year 2027.
