Philly dance teacher gets back on feet despite health challenges

PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania (WPVI) -- Kip Martin's earliest memories involve dancing, which is a talent that has taken him around the world.

He opened 'Symmetry Dance Wellness' in 2006, where he provides serious instruction to adults who are serious about learning the artform.

Last fall, however, his work was largely sidelined by the discovery of a pre-cancerous mass in his stomach. He underwent rigorous treatment that kept him practically bedridden.

Martin was able to recover and get back to teaching at his studio. But the months of time lost created a financial burden on his business.

He will be hosting a 'Symmetry Block Party & Fundraiser' on Saturday, August 2, from 12:00pm to 5:00pm on Sansom Street between 20th and 21st Streets.

Many friends, students, and fellow musicians are rallying behind Martin to make the day memorable while also helping keep the studio doors open.

Watch the video above to see what life lesson this dance instructor has taken away from this outpouring of support.
