Police warn of pickpockets in Tredyffrin, Chester County

TREDYFFRIN TOWNSHIP, Pa. (WPVI) -- Police in Tredyffrin Township, Chester County are warning shoppers of pickpockets.

The reported incidents happened in the Gateway Shopping Center area on the 100 block of Swedesford Road.

Authorities say the thieves distract shoppers by starting a conversation, while an accomplice nabs purses and wallets.

Officials advise people to keep their valuables out of reach and secure to deter theft.

Also, make sure to zip your purse and keep it in your possession at all times, and be cautious of strangers approaching you to create a distraction.
