
PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The City of Philadelphia has released a list of road closures ahead of the many events taking place across the city to celebrate America's 250th birthday on July 4.
The Wawa Welcome America Festival runs June 24 through July 4, bringing visitors from all over the country to celebrate these historic events in Philadelphia.
Festival events will include concerts on Independence Mall, fireworks, neighborhood block parties, Wawa Hoagie Day, free museum days and a parade featuring representatives from all 50 states and U.S. territories.

Wednesday, July 1
Wawa Hoagie Day and US Air Force Heritage Band
Join Wawa for historic Hoagie Day, honoring local heroes, and building and serving Wawa Shorti Hoagies, and a performance by Voices of Service. Hoagies will be served FREE at Noon, on Arch Street between 5th & 6th Streets, followed by a free concert from the U.S. Air Force Heritage of America Band and on Independence Mall.

Red, White, and Blue To Do
The Philadelphia Historic District 250th Committee presents the 2026 Red, White, & Blue To-Do celebration, commemorating a day of "pomp and parade," as declared by John Adams in 1776, encouraging visitors to celebrate independence in the place where it all began. A vibrant display of patriotic celebration, the Red, White, & Blue To-Do brings together museums, historic sites, and local businesses in America's most historic square mile to honor the nation's founding.
All American Block Party
As part of Red, White, and Blue To Do, this block party will include pay-as-you-go food trucks, family-friendly activities and games, special activations and extended hours at local museums and attractions, and culturally inspired music and dance performances at eight different sites.
Salute to Service: United States Army Field Band and Soldiers Chorus
The U.S. Army Field Band & Soldiers' Chorus return to Independence Mall with a rousing performance honoring our Soldiers and Veterans, while showcasing the talented musicians and artists in the Army.

Salute to Independence Parade
One of our most beloved traditions returns in 2026 - bigger and more historic than ever. The Salute to Independence Semi-quincentennial Day Parade will take center stage as the largest professionally produced Semi-quincentennial (250th) celebration parade in the nation.
The following streets will be closed from 11:30 a.m. until the conclusion of the parade to accommodate the parade route and related operations:
POPS on Independence
Celebrate the 250th anniversary of America with the Philly Pops at Independence Mall. Enjoy a patriotic evening of live orchestral music, favorite tunes, and festive cheer in the heart of Philadelphia's historic district.

Celebration of Freedom Ceremony
Don't miss the Celebration of Freedom Ceremony on the morning of July 4th, honoring America's 250th anniversary in the very place where it all happened. Be part of this historic milestone in Philadelphia's iconic historic district!
One Philly: Unity Concert for America & Fireworks
Christina Aguilera, Will Smith, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Jill Scott, The Roots, Meek Mill, Seal, State Property, Kathy Sledge, Infinity Song, and more special guests will celebrate America's 250th Anniversary and Philadelphia's legacy as the birthplace of the nation with a star-studded performance for One Philly: Unity Concert For America, a six-hour live concert on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. The concert will be hosted by Wanda Sykes and include appearances from Gillie Da King and Wallo 267.
The July 4th Concert will be followed by a large, public fireworks display over the iconic Benjamin Franklin Parkway beginning at 11:30 p.m.

Please note: The outer lanes of the Benjamin Franklin Parkway will remain open until the full Parkway closure begins on July 3.
All closures listed below are in effect from approximately 6 a.m. on Friday, July 3 to 6 a.m. on Monday, July 6, unless otherwise noted:
Due to public safety concerns relating to the fireworks show, all roads listed below will be closed from 8 p.m. on Saturday, July 4 to approximately 1 a.m. on Sunday, July 5, unless noted otherwise:
Please note: Parkway closures may begin earlier than scheduled based on crowd size and public safety needs.
Getting to the concert:
SEPTA's L, B, T and Regional Rail will have special schedules with enhanced service to support the July 4 events happening throughout the city.
Most Regional Rail lines provide additional inbound and outbound service before the fireworks; all Regional Rail lines (except Airport & Cynwyd) provide late-night outbound service from Jefferson, Suburban and William H. Gray III 30thSt stations after the fireworks.
All other services (D, M, and bus) operate on a Sunday schedule. Routes that do not have Sunday schedules will not operate.
SEPTA Ambassadors will be on-site at select major stations during the evening hours for crowd control and to provide directions after the July 4 FIFA match and July 4 Concert and Fireworks on the Ben Franklin Parkway. Look for them in blue labeled vests. Additional security personnel will also be available at select stations to assist you.
Bus Detours: Due to road closures, buses that travel on or near the Parkway will be detoured starting at 5 a.m. on Thursday, July 2 through 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 5.
