VIDEO: Group raises money to save ship

SOUTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A historic vessel docked in South Philadelphia has the money it needs to stay afloat.

The organization working to save the SS United States says it has raised $600,000 over the last seven weeks.

That's enough to maintain the ship well into next year.

The SS United States Conservancy says it no longer has to sell the ship for scrap.

The group hopes to turn it into a museum.
