PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania (WPVI) -- For this 2026 graduate of St. Joseph's Preparatory School, he climbed to the top of their Mountain Biking Varsity Team.

Despite early struggles as a Freshman, Aiden Gonzales never put the brakes on his ambition, and became a team captain.

"It's become more than just a sport for me. It's part of who I am. And it's not leaving me any time soon," said Gonzales.

As he says farewell, Gonzales looks back on how the team grew and evolved during his tenure.

"I started in October of 2022...and ever since I fell in love with it... it's been such a formative and integral part of my life. In 2024, when I was a sophomore, I was recognized with the 'Most Improved Rider Award.' I was slow at first...with the help of the team...continuing strong, just climbing the ranks," said Gonzales.

"He came in not really having any experience mountain biking, decided to not get frustrated and quit... and now is competing at the highest level in the varsity category... earning top ten finishes among the best in the program. It's a journey that shows consistency and hard work and a commitment to something pays off," said Head Coach, Dino Pinto.
