Students, teachers hold rally in hopes to stop school closures in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Students, families and teachers affected by impending school closures in Philadelphia rallied outside of school district headquarters Wednesday.

They're trying to convince the district to reconsider closing their schools are part of its facilities master plan.

It calls for the closure of 17 schools.

On Tuesday, members of Philadelphia City Council called on the school board to reconsider.

In response, the school board says it is moving forward with the plan.
