Suspects sought in burglary at Saquon Barkley's Malvern home

MALVERN, Pa. (WPVI) -- Police are searching for at least two suspects and a white GMC Yukon following a burglary at the Malvern home of Super Bowl champion Saquon Barkley over the weekend.

Authorities said the burglary occurred at about 5:10 a.m. Saturday while Barkley and his family were inside the home. No one was injured, and the suspects fled the scene.

The Chester County District Attorney's Office is asking the public to check their home surveillance system.

"If you saw anything strange. If you saw a vehicle driving away quickly," Chester County District Attorney Christopher de Barrena-Sarobe said.

Investigators said they are still seeking information about the crime and have not ruled out a possible connection to other burglaries involving professional athletes.

"We've seen NFL and NBA players targeted across the country," de Barrena-Sarobe said.

The FBI has been notified of the break-in. Former FBI agent and ABC News contributor Brad Garrett said the burglary differs from other recent cases involving athletes because it did not occur while Barkley was playing in a game and his family was home at the time.

"Did they just decide to one day, we're just going to break into this guy's house without doing much homework? It has that flavor," Garrett said.

Garrett also cautioned against assuming the burglary is connected to other crimes involving high-profile athletes.

"It's easy to say because they are high-profile people that there must be some connection; that's not necessarily true. I'm not ruling that out because I don't know. The point being there is a lot of copycat behavior," he said.

Barkley has played for the Philadelphia Eagles since 2024. The 29-year-old is known for supporting charitable causes and, along with his wife, founded an organization aimed at helping underserved youth.

Last year, he received a key to the city of Allentown.

The burglary adds Barkley to a growing list of athletes who have been targeted by burglars.

"I know how much people love the Philadelphia Eagles, and particularly Saquon Barkley, but he's a victim of a crime; his family is a victim of a crime now. Let's give him space and be thankful he's safe," de Barrena-Sarobe said.
