Tacony Academy hosts ribbon cutting for mini library honoring beloved teacher

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Tacony Academy in Philadelphia's Rhawnhurst neighborhood is honoring a beloved teacher.

The school hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony Wednesday to celebrate the opening of Porter's Corner.

The mini library is dedicated to the memory of Alaine Porter, a Tacony Academy teacher who passed away in 2023.

School officials say the new space includes books specially labeled and stamped in Ms. Porter's honor.

Porter was a huge Phillies fan, and her legacy continues to inspire the student body.
