Temple University nurses, techs vote to authorize strike ahead of contract deadline

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- About 2,600 nurses and technicians at Temple University Hospital have voted to authorize a strike as contract negotiations continue ahead of a Sept. 30 deadline.

The vote comes just days after union members picketed outside the hospital in North Philadelphia, citing concerns over workplace safety and staffing conditions.

The union says management is ignoring their concerns.

Temple Health responded in a statement, saying it believes discussions have been productive and expressed confidence that a contract agreement can be reached that serves both employees and patients.
