Transformer fire knocks out power in West Phila.

An underground transformer fire left hundreds without power in West Philadelphia early Wednesday.

The incident happened around 3:00 a.m. Wednesday along the 5600 block of Chestnut Street.

Officials say the fire was placed under control within fifteen minutes.

It caused a power outage at homes and businesses between 55th to 56th Streets and Market and Chestnut Streets.

The Philadelphia Fire Department's Engine Company 57, located in that area, was not affected.

PECO crews are on the scene, working to restore the power.

There were no injuries reported.
