Viewing, funeral to be held for Philadelphia Highway Patrol Officer Andy Chan

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The viewing and funeral for Philadelphia Highway Patrol Officer Andy Chan is being held this week.

Chan died on December 2, nearly seven years after he was critically injured when a driver hit his motorcycle in the Holmesburg section of Philadelphia.

The first viewing for Chan will be Monday, December 15, at the Holy Redeemer Chinese Catholic Church from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Another viewing will be held on Tuesday, December 16, from 8:15 a.m. to 10:40 a.m. at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul. The funeral will follow at 12 p.m.

Chan was a decorated officer who received a commendation in 2011.

A yearly fundraiser planned for his care took place on Friday, serving as his memorial.
