Suspect arrested in violent smoke shop robbery in Abington, Pa.

ABINGTON, Pa. (WPVI) -- The suspect in a violent smoke shop robbery in Montgomery County is in police custody.

It happened around 4:40 p.m. at the Abington Smoke Shop on the 1300 block of Easton Road in the Roslyn section of Abington Township.

Police say the suspect, identified as 22-year-old Zafir Taj Hill of La Belle, Pennsylvania, allegedly entered the store wearing a face covering and hit an employee in the head with a rock.

According to investigators, Hill then allegedly broke a display case and stole merchandise before fleeing the scene.

The employee was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Officers found Hill about a mile away near Easton and Cross Roads in Glenside and took him into custody without incident.

Hill has been charged with robbery, aggravated assault and related offenses.
