PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Rashaun Sligh, the former Temple University receiver who has been camping outside the Eagles NovaCare facility in South Philadelphia for a tryout, got some good news on Wednesday from another football team, the Philadelphia Soul.
The Arena Bowl Champions signed Sligh to a one-day tryout contract for Thursday at the Wells Fargo Center.
The 24-year old, who attended Northeast Catholic High School, was given the opportunity by Soul owner Cosmo DeNicola.
According to the Soul, DeNicola and the coaching staff saw Sligh's story and knew they needed to give him an opportunity.
Sligh has been hoping for a chance at making the Eagles roster.
He told Action News earlier in the week, "I'm out here trying to get the attention of my hometown Philadelphia Eagles. I really think I can compete at this level and I'm hoping to get the attention for a workout or at least a conversation or something to get myself on this team."
But now Sligh has an opportunity to join the undefeated Soul. They are currently 8-0 on the season and have a 15-game winning streak dating back to last season.
