The new CEO of the social media site Reddit is creating big buzz today regarding her stance on salary negotiations.
Ellen Pao now runs Reddit and says she's banning salary negotiations for new employees, saying they can actually hurt female applicants.
Paohe tells the Wall Street Journal that women are just not good at it.
"Men negotiate harder than women do and sometimes women get penalized when they do negotiate. We aren't going to reward people who are better negotiators with more compensation," she says.
In Silicon Valley the divide is deep, with women making nearly $35,000 a year less than their male counterparts.
She says at Reddit it's an even playing field and what each employee is offered is the final offer.
