PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Police are searching for the serial bandit who allegedly robbed seven drug stores in West and Southwest Philadelphia.
"Looks as he increased in frequency, he becomes more desperate, he's desperate and he has a gun," said Lt. Johnny Walker of the Philadelphia police.
The man police are looking for is 49-year-old Cartel Wright, AKA Kevin Jones of the 5900 block of Upland.
Last March, investigators say, he held up the Rite Aid on the 5000 block of City Avenue at gunpoint and demanded cash.
He then stopped but police say in August, he reappeared at the same Rite Aid demanding cash from the register.
"He then stops again and we still can't find him. And then from the 18th of December up until yesterday, he commits 5 additional robberies at Rite Aids, CVS and a Family Dollar store," said Lt. Walker.
There was the point of gun robbery at the Rite Aid at 52nd and Baltimore on December 18th that has police particularly concerned.
"The security guard chased him and from the video, he pulls the gun out and points it at the security guard," said Lt. Walker.
Police believe there are obviously people out there that know Cartel Wright, AKA Kevin Jones and they are hoping they call with information on his whereabouts.
A $5000 reward is being offered in the search for Wright.
Lt. Walker says, "We're trying to get him off the streets to protect the people in these businesses and let them have a little bit of relief as we enter the New Year."
