Pennsylvania State Police have seized several cell phones used to take or share explicit photos of students at Owen J. Roberts High School.

NORTH COVENTRY TWP., Pa. (WPVI) -- Pennsylvania State Police have seized several cell phones used to take or share explicit photos of students at Owen J. Roberts High School, and some of the teenagers could ultimately face charges.

State police are now investigating reports that a 16-year-old student at the high school was sharing nude pictures with other students.

School officials tell us that it came to their attention in March that a student had shared a collection of pictures via text message. Some of the pictures were of other students who attend the school.

Investigators are looking into what happened to see if any charges will be filed.

They have taken the devices used to share the pictures as evidence in their case.

The school district tells Action News they have offered counseling to the parents and student were involved in this situation.

The superintendent tells us they have tried very hard to drive home with students that their digital footprints are permanent.

He hopes this unfortunate situation will be a learning moment for everyone.
