Ice, slick roads impact morning commute in Philadelphia and surrounding communites
PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Motorists were being warned to watch for slick roads Wednesday after a wintry mix overnight caused treacherous conditions in many places.
Action News found a number of side roads covered with ice early Wednesday, and some school districts were reporting delayed openings.

Although crews did salt main roads across most of the region, Action News found ice on parts of Ridge Avenue in Philadelphia's Manayunk and Roxborough sections.
Icy conditions shut down Montgomery Drive near the I-76 on-ramps, preventing drivers from accessing Martin Luther King Drive.
We found similar conditions in Lower Merion on Lancaster Avenue and Vassar and Belmont.
In Bucks County, authorities say slippery roads led to a crash involving a trash truck.
It happened at 5 a.m. on the Route 202 Parkway in Warrington.
The driver lost control and the truck overturned, shutting down the road in both directions between Bristol Road and Limekiln Pike.
And in Philadelphia's Fairmount Park, a downed tree shut down Strawberry Mansion Drive in both directions approaching the Strawberry Mansion bridge.
Video from Chopper 6 HD showed tree crews on the scene working to cut up the large trunk to make the road passable again.
As challenging as conditions were in and around Philadelphia, conditions were equally tough in Berks and northern Montgomery counties.
One motorist told Action News she found near-white-out conditions along Route 422 as the season's first snow came in with a gust and left almost as soon as it fell.
