WARETOWN, N.J. (WPVI) -- A New Jersey woman says Halloween isn't as scary as it used to be, and she's doing something about it.

But not everyone shares her spirit.

Krysten Negrotto of Waretown put up a display in her front yard depicting two zombies taken out by a crashed car.

"You see worse on the news," Krysten said. "Honestly, you see worse in real life on TV."

It was so real - or disturbing - Krysten says people called the police, who showed up at her door to check on the display.

"Somebody reported it saying they didn't like it, and they did get reports of it previously someone saying it was real," Krysten said. "How could anybody call the cops on a Halloween display that clearly is fake?"

Krysten stuffed the zombies with pillows and made legs out of car parts. The blood, she says, came in a bottle.

She's hearing both compliments and complaints about it.

"I don't like the graphicness, but people do. So, you know, to each his own," said neighbor Stacy Nolan.

"This morning I seen the other one laying on the ground," said neighbor Edward Schaffren. "I don't know if it was there yesterday, but today I was like 'Oh my God there's another one laying there!' And that was good."

When asked if he liked it, Edward said: "Yes I do."

"It's not to really scare people it's just, hey, Halloween and zombies and that's what Halloween is all about," said Krysten.

She says all the ghosts and goblins and that graphic display in her yard are just a way to enjoy her favorite holiday

"It's like Halloween has just died down and become nothing like what it used to be, and that's what we want to bring back," Krysten said. "That's what we want to remind people of."
