SOUTHWEST PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Police have arrested a woman following a hit-and-run earlier this year that left 4-year-old boy dead.

Shanika Mason, 27, from Sharon Hill, Pa. turned herself in to police and was charged with Homicide by Vehicle, Accident Involving Death and Involuntary Manslaughter.

The child, Abdul Wilson, was killed in the incident back in April at 57th and Litchfield streets.

Surveillance video shows the driver striking the child, sending him 15 feet down the roadway. The driver then runs over the unconscious youngster before speeding away.

The little boy was quickly transported to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Police say it appears the incident was simply a horrible accident. Police say if the driver had just stopped at the scene, it's likely she wouldn't be facing any criminal charges.
