Penn State had moved away from playing FCS opponents, but that will change in the next decade against regional opponents.

Villanova announced Thursday it will make the trip to Beaver Stadium in State College, Pennsylvania, for games Sept. 25, 2021, and Sept. 13, 2025. Fellow Colonial Athletic Association member Delaware also announced it has signed contracts to play games at Penn State on Sept. 9, 2023, and Sept. 11, 2027.

Delaware has never played Penn State. Its second-year head coach, Danny Rocco, began his collegiate playing career at Penn State before transferring to Wake Forest. His father, Frank, spent over 20 years working with the Nittany Lions' program.

Penn State holds a 4-3-1 series lead over Villanova, although their last meeting was in 1951.

The Nittany Lions' 2011 game against Indiana State was its most recent against an FCS program.
