Rangers starter Dane Dunning returns from IL, falls to Phillies

The Texas Rangers reinstated right-hander Dane Dunning from the 15-day injured list Wednesday started him for Wednesday night's 11-4 loss at Philadelphia.

Dunning left with two runners in the fourth after he threw 74 pitches and took the loss to fall to 3-3 on the season. He gave up five runs, three earned while walking one and striking out four.

The Rangers put Dunning on the IL earlier this month with a right rotator cuff strain. Dunning is 3-2 with a 4.10 ERA through seven starts this season.

Dunning, 29, is 26-27 with a 4.16 ERA in 105 career games (94 starts) with the Chicago White Sox (2020) and the Rangers.

Winn, 24, went 0-1 with a 6.91 ERA over 11 relief appearances since being called up for his major league debut on April 14.

In a corresponding move, the Rangers optioned RHP Cole Winn to Triple-A Round Rock.
