Sen. Pat Browne pleads not guilty to drunk driving charge

ALLENTOWN, Pa. (WPVI) -- A Pennsylvania state senator from the Lehigh Valley pleaded not guilty to his third drunk driving charge in 20 years.

Sen. Pat Browne's attorney entered the plea on his behalf Monday morning.

The Republican state lawmaker is charged in connection with a motorcycle accident back on the afternoon of May 2nd.

Allentown police say the 51-year-old legislator was drunk when he crashed his motorcycle while taking an exit ramp off Interstate 78.

The crash left Browne with a broken foot, cracked ribs and a punctured lung.

He faces two counts of drunken driving and a citation for driving at an unsafe speed. Police say his blood-alcohol content was double the state's legal limit.

He previously had his license suspended for drunk driving crashes in 1995 and 1999.

His next court date is scheduled for November second.
