Rain dampens Stotesbury Cup Regatta
Thousands of high school rowers in town for the Stotesbury Cup Regatta didn't let the rain ruin their plans.

Officials cancelled the semi-final races of the Stotesbury Cup Regatta on Saturday and pushed back the finals by an hour due to yesterday's heavy rain.

The finals began at 2:00 p.m., as opposed to its original start time of 1:00 p.m.

Earlier in the day, Stotesbury Cup officials cancelled the semi-finals due to the rough water on the Schuylkill River following the heavy rains on Friday.

Yesterday's wet weather caused the Schuylkill to rise making for dangerous conditions.

The Stotesbury Cup is the oldest and largest scholastic regatta in the world with more than 5,500 rowers from over 190 high school crew teams held annually on the Schuylkill River.
