UPPER PITTSGROVE TWP., N.J. (WPVI) -- New Jersey State Police want the public's help tracking down two men seen burglarizing a house in broad daylight.
The incident occurred in a rural section of Upper Pittsgrove Township, Salem County.
Surveillance footage shows the burglars casually force the door open and enter the home. They even exchange pleasantries with the two dogs inside.
But a few minutes later, something unexpected happens.
The surveillance system inside this home not only notifies the homeowner's cell phone of a potential break-in, it allows her to see what's going on in real time and communicate with the burglars.
The moment the intruders hear her voice, they begin to panic and quickly run away.
The security system automatically mutes the sound of the homeowner's communication with the burglars which is why she is not heard in the recording.
The bandits got away with a lockbox containing jewelry and some personal documents.
Investigators are encouraging anyone who might recognize the two men to call the New Jersey State Police barracks in Woodstown.
