Watch 6abc's Black History Month Honorees Dinner
A special dinner at 6abc celebrated three people who have made outstanding contributions to our community.

6abc Studios (WPVI) -- Every February 6abc is Philly proud to honor people in our community making a difference.

This year's honorees are:

Estelle Richman, selected for her lifelong commitment to creating safer, healthier communities through public service. Her work included serving as the Pennsylvania Secretary of Public Welfare and Managing Director for the city of Philadelphia. Now retired, Richman continues to advocate for marginalized communities.

Charles Scott, who has spent more than 20-years working on gun violence prevention in Philadelphia. He is the Trauma Outreach Manager at Temple University Hospital and he directs the hospital's Cradle to Grave program, teaching young people about the dangerous consequences of gun violence.

Reverend Michelle Simmons, the founder of Why Not Prosper, a non-profit dedicated to housing and supporting women just released from prison. Reverend Simmons, who was formerly incarcerated, says she wanted to create the support system she wished SHE would have had.
