'Arena Adaptive' customizes fitness for those with disabilities

WILMINGTON, Delaware (WPVI) -- Those who have a limb difference, utilize a wheelchair, or anything in between can find their perfect workout routine with 'Arena Adaptive.'

The program was created by Kiersten McCartney, a doctor of physical therapy from Philadelphia.

McCartney recruited a community full of people with diverse abilities to participate in weekly group exercise classes.

There, instructors and assistants provide one-on-one attention to each individual, adapting the workout to meet their specific needs.

She invited students from her alma mater, University of Delaware, to lend a hand and learn how to engage people with disabilities in physical fitness.

Watch the video above to see what it means to some of the participants.

Arena Adaptive is located on the grounds of More than Fitness in Wilmington, Delaware. To learn more, visit their website.
