SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Students at W.C. Overfelt High School are getting the opportunity to build a company. They will also do it on a full stomach.
Husband and wife team Danielle and David Stanton are the founders of Fuel 4 Ever, and they want students to learn the impacts of healthy snacks. That's why they have teamed up with local high schools to share the ups and downs of creating a small business. The students are hungry for the small bites that make a big impact.
"Giving back has been an important part of our lives. Working at a high school just seemed to be the best opportunity for kids, to give them that access to what we are doing. Giving them a seat at the table. Helping them understand healthy ingredients and products and giving them the impact of being part of something unique," said Daniell Stanton, Co-Founder of Fuel 4 Ever.
Fuel 4 Ever is a health and wellness longevity brand that was created to help people understand the importance of good nutrition. The founders hope to build the brand and educate young people to make good food choices for their future. They also don't just educate; they incorporate students' input into their business.
"The students actually take part in the whole process, from creating the flavors, testing the flavors, package design, bringing an idea to an actual product," said David Stanton, Co-Founder of Fuel 4 Ever.
The small protein-filled snacks are a healthy alternative to the wide variety of snacks available. The One Bite One Day initiative includes classroom sessions that help students understand what it takes to bring a product to market from beginning to end. Fuel 4 Evers mission is to build a successful company while also giving young people a chance to build business acumen. Students learn a plethora of skills from packaging to pricing.
"It's about engaging students so that their education becomes more relevant, so that they can find that pathway to the future that they want. The students at Overfelt may come from challenging backgrounds, as a matter of fact, we know they do. Most of them are going to be the first in their families to go to college. They deserve, they are entitled to, that same future that anybody in the U.S. should have," said Vito Chiala, Principal, Overfelt High School.
Part of the proceeds from the student-designed snacks go back to the school and Fuel 4 Ever also leaves its impact, expertise, and entrepreneurship with the students, one flavor, and one bite at a time.
