LAUREL SPRINGS, New Jersey (WPVI) -- Jeff Gibboni graduated from Alvernia University to pursue his second calling: helping veterans know they're not alone.

The Army veteran from Mount Laurel, New Jersey, has spent 24 years working in the United States Marshals Service.

There, he gained experience on a team of peer counselors.

Having faced his own personal challenges in life, he thought about helping fellow veterans navigate theirs.

Thus, Gibboni decided to pursue a career change in his late 40s.

He became a student at Alvernia University in 2023, attending class while still working his regular job. In May 2026, he graduated with a master of arts degree in clinical counseling.

For the past year, Gibboni got hands-on experience with an internship at See You Through It Counseling in Laurel Springs, New Jersey.

In the future, he hopes to take that experience and open his own practice.

Ultimately, he wants veterans and everyone to know that help is out there.

Watch the video above to see what Gibboni's journey means to him.
