VILLANOVA, Pa. (WPVI) -- A short time before tipoff, Villanova officials played a recorded message from Jay Wright dedicated to Nova Nation.

"Thanks so much for all of your support. Everything you've done this year," said Wright. "Go cats!"

And from that moment on it was a high-decibel affair inside The Pavilion.

Fans say there's a reason why the Wildcats made it this far, and it's the same reason why they are the national champions!

"They play for each other, that's what makes them so good," said Dania Haughton, freshman. "They play for one another, instead of being selfish."

Sophomore Lindsay Karen says she still can't believe she spent her freshman year at the University of Richmond.

"I transferred here, and these have been the best two days of my life," said Lindsay Curran, sophomore. "I would never transfer anywhere else."

We didn't want to bother Nova Nation anymore during the school's biggest game in more than 30 years. But we had to ask, what made them so sure the Wildcats were going to win?

The answer was surprisingly simple.

"Cause we're a better team than UNC," said James Goodwin, freshman.
