First 18-month wrinkle filler for mouth area now on market

BALA CYNWYD, Pa. (WPVI) -- The Food and Drug Administration has given the green light to a new longer-lasting wrinkle filler.

Most fillers for around the mouth only last 6 months to a year, at best.

However, Juvederm Vollure is designed to last 18 months.

Dr. Tim Greco of Bala Cynwyd, Pa., says it has the same ingredient as other injectable gels, but the molecular chains in Vollure are built differently.

"Some products have a predetermined length to the chain. This has a mixture. It has short chains, medium chains, and long chains, and then those are blended together," says Dr. Greco.

The chains reinforce each other, helping them last longer.

Dr. Greco says Vollure's texture also allows it to smooth lines and wrinkles, but not show under the skin.

Right now, it's only approved for use around the mouth.
