A large water main break in a Philadelphia neighborhood buckled a road and left more than a dozen homes without water.

BUSTLETON (WPVI) -- A large water main break in a Philadelphia neighborhood buckled a road and left more than a dozen homes without water.

It happened early Monday morning the 9700 block of Verree Road in Bustleton.

The Philadelphia Water Department tells Action News a 12-inch main burst, causing some flooding and cracking the road surface.

Water service was shut off to more than a dozen homes.

Philadelphia Police closed Verree Road from Pine Hill Road to Welsh Road.

Repair work got underw ay around 9:00 a.m. Monday.

Verree Road will remain closed from Welsh Road to Pine Hill Avenue for at least 3 weeks as repairs are made.
