Lanes reopen after flooding shuts down Roosevelt Boulevard in Northeast Philadelphia

NORTHEAST PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Heavy rains shut down a portion of the Roosevelt Boulevard in Northeast Philadelphia for a few hours Monday night.

The rains came through the area around 5:30 p.m. Monday causing the flooding conditions.

The northbound inner and outer drives of the Boulevard were shut down due between Blue Grass and Red Lion Road.

All lanes reopened around 9:45 p.m.

The storm then moved south into New Castle, Delaware and caused a tree to explode, stripping the bark off the trunk and sending wooden shrapnel flying into a home.

The jagged scar suggests the tree may have been struck by lightning.

There was some storm damage across the area.

Firefighters say the damage to the home on Sage Way is limited to the roof and fortunately all the people inside the house made it out safely.
