CENTER CITY (WPVI) -- Philadelphia's iconic William Penn statue is about to get a makeover.
City officials say work will start on the 37 foot statue late this summer.
It will take about a month to wash, wax, and buff the iconic statue, which sits on top of City Hall.
The observation deck will be closed during that time.
$100,000 in private donations, a $25,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, and $125,000 of capital fund will combine to foot the $250,000 bill.
