NORTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Police have released images of the suspect in the killing of a woman at a bus stop in North Philadelphia.

Kim Jones, 56, was killed just after 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at 12th and Jefferson streets while she waited for the Route 23 SEPTA bus.

Police showed surveillance video of the suspect in a news conference on Friday afternoon.

The person's face is covered. The suspect is dressed all in black and is wearing white headphones.

The video shown by police begins with Kim Jones walking northbound on 12th Street towards Jefferson.

The video then shows the suspect, carrying a duffel bag, walking east on Jefferson Street toward Jones. Police say he was following her after waiting outside her home for an hour.

"When she does come out he follows her in a very calm manner, walks up behind her, and shoots and kills her," said Capt. James Clark of the homicide unit.

"Right after the murder happens, he turns, we believe he puts the gun back in the duffel bag, and in a very calm fashion just walks away," Clark said.

The suspect remains at large.

Police said that bus stop was part of her routine for years as she traveled into Center City to her job at the Turning Points for Children, a social service program on South 15th Street.

Jones was a long-time program director at the social service agency where she was employed. Her co-workers are all stunned.

Her boss says Jones' job at the agency was not the kind of job where she may encounter disgruntled or unhappy people.

Investigators say Jones had been divorced from her ex-husband for over 25 years and recently remarried just before Christmas.
