Police report Charles McCowan parked his pickup truck in front of a Southern California mini-mart and left Max, the 80-pound Boxer, in the passenger seat.
When McCowan came out, his ride and dog were gone.
McCowan called the cops, thinking the pickup had been stolen.
Police found it in a fast-food parking lot across the street. Security video shown on an L.A.
TV station (KCAL) shows the truck rolling backward into street. Police theorize Max must have knocked the gearshift lever.
Both the truck and the dog are fine.
