Man charged in hot car death of parent

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (AP) - July 8, 2008 Investigators say Theodore Pressman left his parents in his car on Monday in a parking lot, in the full sun, with the windows rolled up. His 85-year-old father died and his 75-year-old mother, who was able to get out of the car, had to be treated for heat exposure.

One police detective says he's seen a number of cases where animals or children have been left in cars, but this is the first time he's seen elderly parents treated this way.

Police say a check with other police departments in the area shows that Pressman had often left his parents "at restaurants, delis, McDonald's" while he worked but this is the only instance they can find that he had left them in his car.
