Councilman's chief of staff indicted

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - August 5, 2008 Christopher Wright is accused of taking bribes from two real estate developers and their lawyer to in exchange for official acts on their behalf. The developers and their lawyer are the other defendants.

The indictment says Wright got money and gift certificates, the use of an apartment in Philadelphia's prestigious Rittenhouse Square neighborhood, a parking space there and free legal advice.

The indictment handed down Tuesday alleges that Wright repeatedly intervened on the developers' behalf in exchange for those benefits.

Wright's lawyer didn't immediately return a phone call seeking comment. Previously, Kelly said he believes Wright is innocent.
