Boo at the Zoo!

Ghosts and ghouls of all ages invited to discover the Philadelphia Zoo's annual festival.
(PHILADELPHIA, PA) October 6, 2008 The Philadelphia Zoo, 3400 West Girard Avenue, Philadelphia, will host the region's most festive annual Halloween celebration for families. "Boo at the Zoo," taking place Saturday, October 25, and Sunday, October 26 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This popular signature Zoo event has been expanded from one to two days this year.

During the two-day "Boo at the Zoo," children can come in costume to connect with all their favorite animals as well as the environment we share while "trick-or-treating" at candy stations throughout the Zoo. " Boo at the Zoo" will also feature storytelling, games, music and more , including a chance to meet the cast of Hairspray from the Walnut Street Theater. Sweets and treats for "Boo at the Zoo" are generously donated by Peanut Chews® Brand Candies, M&M's® Milk Chocolate Candies, SUPERPRETZEL® Soft Pretzels, Herr Food, Inc., Cabot Creamery Cooperative, R.M. Palmer Company and Endangered Species Chocolate. Radio station B101FM will also be onsite both days with music, games and prizes.

Kid's aren't the only ones getting treats this Halloween. Beast Feast continues for animals throughout the Zoo. Watch as hippos, gorillas, tortoises, jaguars and other critters receive festive fall foods like pumpkins, apples and fresh produce - all donated from local farms as part of the Zoo's on going effort to highlight the environmental benefits of eating locally grown foods.

All activities for "Boo at the Zoo" are free with Zoo admission.

The Philadelphia Zoo is located at 34th Street and Girard Avenue - minutes from the historic downtown area. The Zoo is open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Ticket prices are $17.95 for adults, and $14.95 for kids aged 2 through 11. Family memberships start at just $89 and Zoo members receive free admission and parking all year long.
