Widow of crash victim charged with theft

GREENSBURG, Pa. - January 9, 2009 - Twenty-eight-year-old Joyce Mackey of Redstone Township and her husband, 36-year-old Robert Mackey were ejected in the crash in Hempfield Township on Oct. 22. They were flown to a Pittsburgh hospital where Robert Mackey died the next day.

The trooper investigating the crash found more than $1,100 worth of brand new Steelers novelty items that he later determined were stolen from party stores in the area. The items included dolls, playing cards and bottle openers.

Police say store employees identified the Mackeys as retail theft suspects. Mackey faces a preliminary hearing Feb. 26. The Associated Press could not locate a phone number for Joyce Mackey.
