Del. man dies pinned beneath pickup truck

January 31, 2009 5:01:54 PM PST
State Police say a 27-year-old Milford man died after he was pinned underneath a pickup truck he was repairing. Police say Edward Hankins pulled into the Sunoco gas station on Bay Road in Milford when he had trouble with his transmission around 7 a.m. Friday.

The pickup was running when Hankins climbed under it and police say the truck went into reverse, pinning Hankins.

Paramedics called to the gas station weren't able to revive Hankins and police say he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The state's medical examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine specific cause and manner of death. Investigators do not suspect foul play and are investigating Hankins' death as an accident.
