3 arrested for Delaware car thefts

February 17, 2009 Arrested are 45-year-old William Forrester and 36-year-old Michael WIlberg of the 3400 block of Clayton Avenue in Wilmington. Also in custody is Ann Payne, 40, of the 1100 block of W. 8th Street in Wilmington.

Forrester's 15-year-old son was also arrested. He was wanted for purse snatching in Newark and turned over to the Newark Police Department.

Investigators say the suspects would randomly target different communities in New Castle County, park, and then look for unlocked cars in the area to loot.

The suspected thieves stole laptop computers, iPods, purses, wallets, credit cards, cash, diaper bags, lawn/yard equipment and just about anything that was not properly secured.

All three suspects were arrested on Sunday afternoon after one was identified from video footage from a local Wawa store.

They have each been charged with 16 counts of theft, 2 burglaries, 2 criminal mischief crimes, unlawful use of a credit card and criminal trespassing. They each will face additional charges as detectives continue to link them to other crimes.
