Trenton police shoot, kill pit bull

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - February 27, 2009

Police say officers tried to subdue the attacking dog with pepper spray Thursday, but that the animal would not drop the smaller dog from its mouth. They say that's when officer Jadeen Smith shot and killed the pit bull.

Authorities say the poodle was badly injured. It wasn't clear whether the dog had an owner.

Police are now looking for a group of young people believed to have thrown the poodle over the fence.

A Trenton officer killed another pit bull earlier this month after it attacked a Chihuahua.
