Four barns hit by fire in Berks Co.

OLEY TWP., Pa. - July 10, 2009 Owner Christian Hansen says one critically injured horse from the Pink Star Equestrian Center has been taken to the New Bolton Center animal hospital in Kennett Square, Chester County, for treatment of burns and wounds.

Fire broke out around 11 p.m. Thursday at the farm near Limekiln in Oley Township, about 45 miles northwest of Philadelphia. Firefighters battled the flames through the night, and Oley Township Road was closed for more than 10 hours.

Officials are investigating the cause of the blaze, which leveled two barns and left a third partly standing. Hansen says most of the farm's 30 horses were in pastures and stayed away from the flames.
